I am classifying this novel as Major Nerd Porn (MNP), and I assume in writing this novel Stephenson willingly contracted some form of viral autism.
Unix, Micronesian microeconomics, Undersea Cable buisnesses, Buried Treasure, Bletchley Park, and of course Crypto all feature heavily in one way or another, a perfect satiation for those of us with abysmal attention span.
